Producing Corrosion Alloy Welded Pipes

-->
-->

Brief description of the manufacturing process producing corrosion alloy welded pipes, stainless, steel, tainless.

Inox Tech manufactures longitudinally welded pipes from plate.
The strength of its production stands on the flexibility to produce a wide range of dimensions and materials; this allows the factory to offer complete pipe lists for many Oil & Gas applications.

The mill is capable to supply pipes with plates coming from quarto as well as from coil, starting from the flat plate that can be UT tested to check laminar imperfections.
The plate is initially beveled for the welding, then formed and tack welded, then welded inside and outside.
After these operations the weld is then x-rayed and/or UT tested, then the pipe is heat treated (typically solution annealed), calibrated to obtain perfect roundness and straightness and hydro tested.

Final operations of end beveling,  pickling and passivation, marking and color coding are then completed with the final visual and dimensional check, to release pipes for collection by the client.

Simultaneously destructive tests on pipes samples are performed at the laboratory, to check mechanical properties of the finished product, in order to guarantee characteristics according to specs.

Eg. manufactures Inox Tech :
  • Large diameter (up to 100") / heavy wall welded pipes (up to 60mm)
  • Unit length up to 12 mtrs with no circular joints
  • Pipes produced by plate, welded and calibrated, ID/OD tight tolerances
  • Stainless / Duplex / Ni alloys / Clad / Carbon
  • Production capacity up to 25.000 tons per year
  • Advanced welding techniques
  • Mill approved by Shell, Total, Aramco, PDO, Exxon, Statoil and others

Large size stainless steel welded pipes

Stainless steel welded pipes with large diameter is the core business of Inox Tech, the leading manufacturer located in Italy producing this niche component, mainly used for LNG plants, oil extraction and desalination-desulphurization plants.

With a covered and uncovered area of approx 80.000 square mtrs and 120 employees, 80% of working on three shifts, Inox Tech leads the market of the large size stainless steel welded pipes since mid 90s.
The strength of Inox Tech technology stands in the ability to manufacture a wide size range with small quantities as well as complete project supplies up to several kilometers and thousands of tones of pipes. This is called Inox tech flexibility, and has created the success of the company which is now at the top level in this market.

The Company is strongly customer-oriented, and focuses its targets to the main EPC contractors, who can be served with the most efficient documentation service, as well as with an efficient project management that allows the client to monitor production day by day.

Some examples of projects executed for the main global EPC contractors are:
Algeria (Saipem, Sonatrach) 7.000mtrs, 2.500Tons
Chile/Peru (CB&I) 9.500mtrs, 1.350Tons
Iran (OIEC, IOEC, Sepanair) 8.000mtrs, 2.000Tons
Korea (Korea Gas, Hyundai, Samsung) 5.000mtrs, 1.450Tons
Nigeria (KBR, Saipem, Shell) 12.000mtrs, 4.250Tons
Qatar (Chiyoda, JGC, Shell) 35.000mtrs, 16.000Tons
UAE (Petrofac, Gasco) 4.000mtrs, 1.000Tons
UK (CB&I, BP) 5.000mtrs, 1.200Tons.

The size range for the large diameter pipes covers from 24" up to 80", from 5 up to 50-60mm wall thickness, and all these sizes can be manufactured in 12 mtrs random length.
The manufacturing method varies from size to size, and it is mainly limited to the capability of the steel mills to manufacture such wide plates. These limits are easily exceeded by Inox Tech with its long term experience and a cut-to-size equipment that allow the mill to satisfy customers need in every single occasion.

The material range varies from the "normal" stainless steel, namely 300 series, up to duplex and superduplex, Nickel alloys, bimetal materials (clad) and have also a dedicated line for carbon steel for urgent deliveries.
The company designs, manufactures and updates by itself all the machines in the mill, and has just completed an investment plan of several millions euros for the set up of a new mill with new facilities dedicated to the manufacturing of stainless steel welded pipes, with large diameter.

The new mill is just in front of the old one, and will allow the Company to enlarge the production capacity as well as the production range. The mill has an annual production capacity of approx 25.000 tons, that will be increased by 25% by the end of 2011 when the second part of the investment plan will be completed.

What is Inox Tech

TECHNICAL INFORMATION Stainless Steel Inox Tech

Inox tech SpA has been manufacturing stainless steel welded pipes since 1992, the standard product range covering diameters from 6” up to 80” and wall thicknesses from 6 mm to 60 mm, normally in 6 meter or 12 meter lengths. The products are manufactured in accordance with
ASTM, DIN, N.F.A. Quality Standards and converted by ISO 9002 quality system. The fact that
our company is a relatively newcomer on the market gives us the advantage of having our complete manufacturing plant containing only up-to-date production equipment
based on the most modern technology known today. This was probably also the primary factor that permitted us to obtain in a very short time leading market position as suppliers to some of the most selective customers in various parts of the World, developing this way a
considerable notoriety and positive image for our company. The implementation of this advanced technology in our manufacturing system not only permits us to continuously supply
products of the highest level of quality.Inox Tech first began producing stainless steel welded
pipes in 1992, primarily targeting the energy markets.Since then, the company has been able to quickly establish itself as a major player in the international stainless steel pipe markets, specialising in thick-wall, large-diameter pipes and tubes. According to Mr Poggio, it has done
so through its dedication to product quality and production flexibility and through its partnership with the Ronda industrial group, a partner boasting 30 years of leadership in working stainless steel. Already from the start, Inox Tech has been specialised in manufacturing big pipes and stainless steel forming . When the company was founded in 1989, it was decided that the highly competitive market for thin-wall, smalldiameter tubes made in mass-production systems was to be left alone. After careful consideration and market research, the Ronda group concluded that Inox Tech’s future would be in the production of thick-wall, largediameter pipes in view of the constantly growing market.
